Leeds fans react to incredible goalkeeper statistic
Leeds United fans on Twitter have been reacting to an incredible trend that has seen their goalkeepers pick up some of the biggest honours in football.
On Wednesday evening Andy Lonergan picked up a UEFA Super Cup winners medal, just a few years after keeping just one clean sheet all season with Leeds United.
This isn’t the first time a goalkeeper has won major honours either before or after a spell with the Yorkshire club.
One Twitter user was quick to point out this mind-blowing trend.
Current number one Kiko Casilla is a three-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid.
Last season former United stopper Rob Green tasted Europa League glory with Chelsea.
While the user forgot to include this in his original tweet, he was quick to point out that another former United goalie Kasper Schmeichel is also a Premier League winner.
Fans on Twitter were shocked by this news, and they used a couple of GIFs to express their feelings after seeing the facts.

Others wanted to point out that former stopper Ross Turnbull is also a Champions League winner. However, they failed to mention that Jamal Blackman also has a winners medal and he was a United player last season.

Others joked that some of their other former goalies are destined for glory in the coming years.

One fan spared a thought for Nigel Martyn. The former United man was between the sticks for the Yorkshire club in the late 90s and early 2000s, yet he failed to win any trophies throughout his career.
Nigel Martyn has been massively short changed here.
